Dongfeng Special Vehicle Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Dongfeng Special Auto") is a specialized commercial vehicle manufacturing division under Dongfeng Motor Group. Established in 1992 and headquartered in Shiyan, Hubei Province—known as the "Capital of Commercial Vehicles" in China—the company integrates the production of buses, school buses, transit buses, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, special-purpose vehicles, and new-energy vehicles. It has grown into a large-scale, modern complete-vehicle manufacturer in China.

The company boasts an annual production capacity of 15,000 complete vehicles and 20,000 chassis, with products exported to numerous countries and regions worldwide. In recent years, under the strong leadership and support of the Shiyan Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Government, and the Economic Development Zone Administrative Committee, Dongfeng Special Auto has actively expanded its new-energy commercial vehicle business. It has formed a joint venture with Shanxi Pengfei Group, a Fortune China 500 enterprise, to jointly advance the hydrogen-powered automotive industry.

Shanxi Pengfei Group, the parent company, holds total assets of RMB 150 billion and employs 30,000 people. It is a digitalized, circular, and green private enterprise engaged in a comprehensive range of businesses, including raw coal mining, coal washing, coke smelting, modern coal chemical processing, equipment manufacturing, smart logistics, high-end real estate, and a full hydrogen energy industrial chain. In 2022, Pengfei Group acquired a controlling stake in Dongfeng Special Auto, empowering its rapid development in new-energy commercial vehicles and aiming to build an integrated new-energy intelligent equipment and logistics ecosystem centered on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, battery electric vehicles, and autonomous driving vehicles.
