Dongfeng Special Vehicle Co., Ltd., originally part of the commercial vehicle production sector under Dongfeng Motor Group, was founded in 1992 and is located in Shiyan, Hubei Province — the capital of China’s commercial vehicle industry. After more than 30 years of development, the company has grown into a large, modern complete vehicle manufacturing enterprise integrating R&D, production, and sales.

The company has built a domestically leading vehicle electrophoresis production line, as well as workshops for chassis, material preparation, welding, painting, and final assembly. It covers all four core vehicle manufacturing processes and is equipped with advanced testing and inspection facilities, including a vehicle offline inspection line, a rain test chamber, a road test field, a six-column vibration test bench, and a vehicle environmental test chamber. The company has an annual production capacity of 15,000 complete vehicles and 20,000 chassis.The company has established R&D centers in Wuhan and Shenzhen.

In early 2022, Pengfei Group acquired a controlling stake in Dongfeng Special Automobile and adjusted its strategic direction toward the manufacturing of new energy and hydrogen-powered vehicles, achieving initial success.

The company currently holds full-series commercial vehicle production qualifications, covering fuel and gas buses and trucks, electric buses and trucks, and hydrogen fuel cell buses and trucks. Its products are exported to dozens of countries and regions, including the United States, Mexico, Russia, Thailand, Iran, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and Central Asia. The company ranks seventh in China in bus sales, with new energy bus sales consistently among the industry’s top performers, while new energy truck sales are steadily increasing.
